EBROSIL®

Precipitated silicas

Precipitated silicas marketed with the trade name EBROSIL®, are used as reinforcing agents in polymeric materials, mainly elastomers, for all kinds of applications, from tyres to technical parts, from shoe soles to synthetic flooring.

Two critical properties that EBROSIL® products provide are due to its reinforcing capacity and the ease with which it is processed and dispersed in blends.

The first property is directly related to the mechanical properties it affords to the blend and it depends on the porosity of the silica and on the distribution of the pore size; hence it is associated with the BET surface area measurement.

In general, the dispersion and processability in blends is in conflict with reinforcement, but special types of silica have been developed that reinforce considerably with relative easy dispersion, like EBROSIL® PD/GR y S-125PD/GR. The type of presentation chosen (powder -PD- or compact granules -GR-) will depend on the mixing process. EBROSIL® SA-60 is a sodium aluminium silicate with a medium-low reinforcement and it is especially interesting for low-viscosity mixtures.

On the other hand, a highly dispersible silica has been developed, named EBROSIL® H155AT. It is mainly used in tyres because of its excellent dispersion at high filler levels in combination with silanes, with a low powder evolution as well as a great flowability.

Products

EBROSIL® PD/GR

EBROSIL® PD/GR

Standard silica for general use in all types of formulations. Its specific BET surface area is approximately180 m²/g and it is marketed as a powder (PD) and in compact granules (GR). It provides high reinforcement for blends, as well as good processability and dispersion.

Markets it targets:

EBROSIL® S125PD/GR

EBROSIL® S125PD/GR

This moderate-reinforcement silica affords great processability, which is associated with its small surface area (approximately 125 m²/g). It is available as a powder (PD) and in granules (GR).

Markets it targets:

EBROSIL® SA60

EBROSIL® SA60

An amorphous sodium and aluminium silicate with a specific surface area of approximately 60 m²/g. Its processability is excellent, affording very high dispersion with moderate reinforcements.

Markets it targets:

EBROSIL® H155 AT

EBROSIL® H155 AT

It is a highly dispersible silica with high levels of filler combined with silanes, being specially developed for tyre tread, although it can also be used in other polymeric systems. Due to its microsferical aspect, it has excellent flowability and low dust evolution.
