BETOLIN® SAPETIN®

Additives for paints

The products marketed under the trade name of BETOLIN® and SAPETIN® are used to manufacture mineral type silica coatings.

The use of this type of coatings has increased considerably and quickly in European countries over the last decade as a result of the interesting properties that these silicate systems have, among which we can highlight:

  • Their long duration.
  • Their reaction with the mineral type support (petrification).
  • Their excellent permeability to water vapour.
  • Their low tendency to fouling.
  • Their ecological nature.

Products

BETOLIN® A 11

BETOLIN® A 11

A solution of stabilising complexes and silanes. It is used together with Betolin® Q40 and Betolin® P35 E to manufacture silicate coatings. It improves paint stability by complexing the multi-valence metal ions that are released during storage. It increases the coating’s resistance to water thanks to its water-resistant nature.
® Trademark registered by Woellner Silikat GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Markets it targets:

BETOLIN® P 35

BETOLIN® P 35

It is a modified potassium silicate with small amounts of polymers that guarantee its stability, avoiding the premature formation of a silica gel.

It is used as a binder in the manufacture of stucco and silicate paints together with the other additives, Betolin® and Sapetin®.

® Trademark registered by Woellner Silikat GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Markets it targets:

BETOLIN® Q 40

BETOLIN® Q 40

An aqueous solution of quaternary ammonium salts. It is used together with potassium silicate-based binders to manufacture mineral coatings. It prevents reactions between the silicate and the rest of materials present in the formulation of the coating.
® Trademark registered by Woellner Silikat GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Markets it targets:

BETOLIN® V 30

BETOLIN® V 30

An anionic polysaccharide of easy biological decomposition that is used as a thickening agent. It is used in silicate coatings as it prevents sedimentation and the re-agglomeration of fillers and pigments. Highly resistant to alkalis, acids and electrolytes.
® Trademark registered by Woellner Silikat GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Markets it targets:

SAPETIN® D 20

SAPETIN® D 20

A solution of modified phosphonic acid salts. It is an efficient dispersing agent of mineral fillers in alkaline pH. It modifies the zeta potential of filler particles and pigments, preventing them from regrouping and forming agglomerates.
® Trademark registered by Woellner Silikat GmbH, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Markets it targets:

BERSIL Li

BERSIL Li

Lithium silicate in an aqueous solution used as a single component inorganic binder for the consolidation and preservation of natural or artificial stones with absorbent capacity. It is also used as a binder in aqueous-based, zinc-rich, anti-rust paints.
